Discover Legendary Art

Autumn is the perfect time of year to explore Guernsey’s fascinating history of art and culture.

Our isle was beloved by some of France’s artistic greats, from the celebrated 1883 visit of impressionist painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir to legendary writer Victor Hugo, who resided here for 15 years.

It may surprise you to learn that the only Renoir exhibition worldwide in 2023 takes place in Guernsey, from the 30th of September to the 17th of December, celebrating the 140th anniversary of his visit.

The museum is only a two-minute walk from the Duke of Normandie, with our central St Peter Port location also giving you easy access to many of the island’s finest eateries and attractions.

The house of Les Misérables writer Victor Hugo is also within walking range, where you can explore his eclectically decorated home and writing room.

As well as visiting the celebrated exhibition, you can also experience the scenery that inspired the famed impressionist, with the Renoir Walk along the island’s south coast. Discover frames at his favourite spots and experience the views just as he did when painting.
